At the suggestion of my wise artist friend, Jen, I gave note cards a whirl. (They're available in my shop now.) They're nice, sturdy flats with rounded edges, and they come with white envelopes, two each of the four images above, which makes, you know, eight cards, math-wise.
What do you think of this endeavor? And would you be interested in holiday cards of this type? Would you ever send flats as Christmas cards, for example, or do you gotta have the bi-fold? Lastly, I'm putting a toe into the water of making and selling full-sized prints of my work, and I'm nervous about this and uncertain--for some reason, I have always thought the felt work wouldn't translate, but I'm encouraged by the gorgeous prints Jayme McGowan sells of her intricate and dimensional paper work. I'd love to hear any and all of your thoughts on this foray into reproduction... That sounds odd. You know what I mean.

I think the prints look lovely and definately the sort of thing I would consider sending. I must admit for christmas though I do like to send a card that can stand, although I don't know why as most people I know hang their cards flat from ribbons anyway! I think it's just habit. I love the rounded corners of these prints, and I really hope they go well (and don't see any reason why they wouldn't)
Hello Melissa,
I hope you dont mind, but I have awarded you a 'slash award'. It was kindly given to me and as the rules go ( I am a learner...new to blogging)I have to pass it on to blogs that inspire me. If you wouldnt mind popping by and picking it up!!
I love your blog and your work.

I think you have a winner. People are crazy for artie postcards ... they're fun and great to receive. Go for it.
I think prints would be awesome! I have a great supplier of Giclee Art Prints...just let me know if you want the info:)
Oh and just about all the Christmas cards I get are flats now!
I think they are lovely! Where did you get them made?
p.s. I think I recognize the Halloween costume you made for your daughter...I made a jellyfish for my son this year, minus the flashing lights! If Im right, thats quite the coincidence since I have never seen one until I researched how to make one last week!
I agree with everyone, go for it! they are very cute!
I think you should go for it. I love sending notes to people, flat or bifolds, so this fit the me bill completely and would love hitting the jackpot with a gift along these lines. Your new venture is going to be a hit.
My personal taste is that I like the image of the first one the best. Less "wasted space" in the picture and that off to the side shot makes you feel like you are really studying something. I'd say take more pictures of your work in that sort of way.
I absolutely would buy them but wouldn't send them as Christmas cards. I'd prefer to gift a pack to some of my crafty gal pals. Let us know when they are available for purchase!
I think cards of any sort are a great idea. I've thought about that from time to time myself but was overwhelmed by trying to figure out how exactly to get that done. (or maybe I'm just lazy ;)
I think the birch tree cabin image would make a gorgeous holiday card btw! Oh yes, a little card set of houses would be wonderful! go for it!
Oh, I think that's a great idea!! I love to find unique cards like that, and it's a very inexpensive way to own some of your beautiful work.
they look fantastic. i might come knocking on your door for a set one of these days.
it was so nice to spend time with you yesterday.
xx
they look nice. i did this last year with some of my holiday images and used them as thank you notes, when i sent purchases to people. i thought of selling them myself this year for the holidays, but wasn't sure how they would go. seems like you have sold some already. good for you for getting it together.
prints are a lovely idea! My printer is currently broken, but once fixed I will print again. I have had a lot of success with prints of my felt pieces....and think yours would suit prints even better. lovely idea :)
Love them! I would send flats like these for Christmas Cards... or for any occasion!
ok, so apparently i've missed a few posts. i am in love with the personalized big wool pictures, and the cards---they look great. The perfect size for collecting.
What a wonderful idea. Your work is beautiful and how nice to enjoy it on notecards that can be shared with others.
Warm wishes.
I think the cards are very nice, but I agree with one poster who said "less empty space." Maybe close-ups of certain elements/details? A suggestion - what about offering prints of custom portraits to purchasers? I'm saving up to request a custom family portrait and I would love the option of also purchasing some print cards of my order.
oh, i do love these! love the rounded corners! i like the idea of your felt work completely filling the card more than being able to see the hoops, but i think it translates perfectly! seeing them in card form feels like book illustrations of sorts. really nice, m.
a fine idea! you go girl!!
You sent me some of your prints when I won a giveaway of yours a month or so ago and I recently atatched them to some homemade gifts. People were a little confused and tried opening them but I love them because the are unique and beautiful. Thanks for sending them my way and I would love to see holiday designs.
