I'm back, and this time it's--

--birds. Again. And painting on felt. Again. Were you expecting something novel or shocking?
The long weekend was lovely--we insisted on grilling tofu and veg on the back deck (and, you know, steak for our carnivore friends), despite the sudden snow. Us Mainers are plucky. Jen had a quilt she needed to start, so I made my first log cabin square. Can you believe I've never made one before? I can see how quilting becomes addicting--I've always been a little squeamish about the scope of such a project, so large, so involved, so many steps and materials and skills. But maybe I've caught a bit of the bug...we'll see.

oh, feel the same about the quilting bit...so big, so seemingly complicated, but not... and am just starting to cut out my first. something very satisfying about the process though. yes, can see how people get addicted.

mmmm. I feel the same way about quilting. Ever so curious, but a bit frightened by the thought of such an undertaking.

your trip sounds delightful and I love those sweet little birds :)

And quilting - I agree the appeal is easy to understand. I am tentatively planning quilts for the boys for their new room - we'll see if it actually happens.

It would be a nice excuse to pick up some of those striped and polka dotted fabrics, yes? Give it a whirl, Melissa!

Maybe we need to do a bit of group show and tell with these quilts we're dreaming up, no?

There is no little bit about this bug! watch out for the collections to start piling up, the need to feel everything, and don't get started on all the notions!

you'll love it.

Seriously, Whosies--just what I need, right? More supplies to buy!

And yes, doll quilts are a nice manageable way to start!

I finished my first quilt top last summer and I'm afraid to actually quilt it! I am in complete awe of quilters and definitely want to try it more. I signed up for a 5" square swap with some people and I'm hoping to be completely inspired to do something magnificent with all those squares when they come back my way.

Also, I gave you a shout out on my blog today. :)

Hey, thanks, Skooks!

And Kate--it's Magic Cabin or A Child's Dream Come True (both online) for 100% wool or Feltorama for wool blend.
