To business, that is.
Ahem. I'm working on the last house portrait on my current docket of custom orders--wait for the two little shih tzus who will soon be frolicking (or, you know, feltily perched) on the lawn. And, of course, I cant. stop. sewing. poems.

And one last order of business for today--my new friend Mari is another mom who's trying to reorder her life to put her children and her artwork in more central places. I had a great talk with her over chai (what I like to call my "magic juice") on Saturday, and I feel like she could use lots of cheerleading. If you head over to her blog when you get a minute, you'll see that she's having a
giveaway to celebrate her first
etsy sale, and I know you're gonna want to get in on this:

Beautiful, right? Thanks in advance for visiting Mari. Y'all are the best.

i am such a huge fan of the embroidered poetry. i love words stitched on cloth almost more than anything. and your friend mari's art is lovely!
Thanks, my dear. And you know, I was saying to Mari that she'd like you, and then I thought maybe I should have a little artsy-moms gathering at my new apartment.
Too bad I live so far away--I would love to crash your artsy mom's gathering ;)
How do you document custom orders? I am having my first trunk show on the 24th and am hoping that the issue will come up (if you know what I mean...)
PS: Loving the poetry
I wish you could, too, Danielle! I'm not quite sure what you're asking--clarify?
I am just curious how you gather/keep track of the details of what they are requesting, for your reference later while making it. Clear as mud?
That makes total sense! I get the details via etsy convo, along with the photographs, and I keep all their stuff in a folder on my desktop while I'm working on the portrait. I also have a notebook, and I usually write down the crucial stuff in there--that's probably what I'd bring to the trunk show.
Will do. Thanks so much!!!
Thank you so much for the shout out Melissa!
I am absolutely in on the artsy-moms gathering. It. Must. Happen.
For sure, Mari! And I can see that some of my girls commented on your giveaway post--I knew they'd love you!
