A Bit of Winter--

--and this time, I'm not gonna apologize. ;-) The temperatures are climbing in our neck of the woods, summer having one last go at us, and since we'd already started shopping for cardigans and sifting through the soup recipes, we're a little surprised. We'll take it, sure, but working on this little winter village is having a welcomed cooling effect on me today.
I'm using a wool-blend from National Nonwovens--they have a number of different kinds of felt (including the bamboo stuff I've been experimenting with), and this kind is pretty good indeed--a pleasing combination of smooth and wooly, texture-wise, and the colors? Delish.

Hi Melissa! This is absolutely gorgeous! I love it. I haven't been able to enter your embroidery Competition, sadly as life has thrown me a bit of a curve ball. I'm really sad about it because it was such a good idea! Lots of love, Amanda xxx

Nice winter :)

I am very late but...Happy 36!! I really like your daughter's pirate. Are you teaching Spanish? entonces escribir comentarios será más fácil :)

Thanks, Amanda--and not to worry. I hope to do more contests in the future, as this has been so fun.

And Alicia--I'm going to be teaching Spanish to Miss Annabelle, but I'm a little rusty. It's been years since I studied it myself in high school and college, so we'll be learning together really. You can leave your comments in Spanish, though, if you want to. I'll figure 'em out!

Ooo, very pretty! I love the 'snowflake' fabric that you used as the base - so clever.

Oh, that's adorable! I'm already thinking about glitter felt and gingerbread houses here, so you're not alone ;-)

I just adore your work. Keep it coming!

Loving the winter bits (especially down here in FL)! I am having trouble with the submission--I joined flickr and the group, but I am not seeing my own loaded picture. My name is TheMakingsOfEveryday and the name is Wild and Precious (hopefully you see it!).

I _can_ see it, Danielle! What if you follow the direct link to the group page--can you see it there?

Are you skipping Fall? I hope not! I want to see what pretty Fall color schemes you come up with!

Melissa Crowe said...

Definitely not skipping fall--just skipping around a bit! I want to make more of these:

okay. that fabric is PERFECT. you're awesome.

btw, do i have until midnight tonight or tomorrow night to submit? ever the procrastinator...

Melissa Crowe said...

Definitely tomorrow night. And guess what? I MAY have actually put a package in the mail to you yesterday!

thank you and THANK YOU :-)

I haven't embroidered in awhile. My needles are bent and dull and I'm getting blisters. This is not for the faint-hearted. I checked out the submissions again and holy cats there's some good stuff there. Mine is going to look like a 7 year old did it, but I DID use my words. I am not feeling brave, but I'll do it anyway... probably by 11:49 ;-)

A pretty little photo of this would make for a super sweet Christmas card Melissa, I'm just sayin' ;)
