Little Pink Nerd

My pink-house anniversary hoop is finished, and I'm onto a portrait of the dreamiest bride and groom I've ever seen in front of the ocean in Cyprus. It's hard work, but somebody's gotta do it.

Since my post about my relationship to "stuff" (namely, I don't want much of it), I've gotten quite a few emails and comments that suggest some of you are interested in hearing more. I was thinking I might just, now and then, post about my-life-with(out)-things, in order to clarify this lifestyle I'm striving toward and just how (and why) I'm trying to make it happen. Maybe we can exchange ideas about how to live more meaningfully in the material world--and how "making" goes along with all of it. It sounds super nerdy as I'm writing it, but, um, that's never stopped me before. ;-)

I think it sounds lovely, my decision for the new year (I don't make resolutions) is to declutter and live with less. Decluttering is to help me set up a crafting/sewing/reading area. Why do we hold on to all those odds and ends only to forget we have them so we go out and buy more? If we had less then we would know what we have and what we need.

Exactly! That is SO very much a part of what I'm trying to accomplish; for me, having a clear space is like having a clear mind. And what I'm totally trying to prevent in the end is less buying (and, so, more living). I think there's a book written by a woman who bought nothing but absolute necessities for a year--I always wanted to try that as an exercise, an experiment, but I think I'm somehow pretty close to living it as a normal, every day thing. Odd--and wonderful!

First, I LOVE your blog. Second, yes! I would love to hear more about better living with less. I'm constantly trying to simplify and give away what we don't need. I wish I could be a minimalist! Would you be willing to share photos of your space?

You know the premise for my blog so I'M ALL ABOUT hearing about how to live more with less in the adult world. Seriously, I'm excited to read what you have to say about this. I'm sure you're a wonderful role model for your daughter when she's at and age where the media bombards girls with messages to buy, buy, buy.

Thanks for the encouragement, ladies. Teresa-I'm totally willing to share photos, but I fear they won't be very exciting. ;-)

The house embroidery is beautiful. I'm also trying to really cut back on the amount of "stuff" I have so that I can better enjoy all of my blessings.
