Done!

I'm having a real blast with this whole multi-hoop experiment. I've got a couple of other ideas up my sleeve, but if any of you smarties have suggestions, I'd love to hear 'em.
I have a fantasy in which I make enough hoops like this to create a whole interconnected village--houses, trees, critters, clouds, birds, underground warrens. That'll happen, of course, as soon as the need to make money, do laundry, raise my child, and spend time with my husband passes (and no, I don't expect that time to pass, well, ever). Still, a girl can dream--and her friends can dream a long with her. :-)

A little boy holding his dog on a leash? or walking forward pulling a toy train or wagon?

Melissa Crowe said...

Yes! Yes! I'd thought of the dog, but not the wagon--awesome idea!

That's so stinkin' cute!

This is really pretty and such a clever idea. How about a flower, stem and ground in one and flower in other. Or a tree roots and trunk in one, leaves and branches in other.

okay...so, i'm thinking a fisher person (in big green galoshes and over alls or something adorable like you do) fishing and then the underwater scene, perhaps...

How about a Mama duck leading her babies? I'll buy it once you've made it! ;)

maybe you can grow your whole village one piece at a time over a long time. kinda like collecting those christmas village scenes piece by piece each year.

as an idea, how about separate floors of an apartment or other building?

OMGosh... this is outstanding!!! Love it a lotlotlot.

How about doing some kind of flower garden like motif where the tops of the flowers are on a smaller hoop above. I'm thinking delphiniums...

So clever AND cute! Rain is my very favorite weather. Call me weird, but I prefer it to sunshine any day. It keeps me calm, cool, and collected.

Here are my ideas:

1. A tree with a swing in one hoop, and a little girl swinging on it into the next hoop (side by side hoops)
2. The top of a colorful hot air balloon with clouds behind it in the background of one hoop, and the basket with a person in it and patchwork fields below in the next (up &down)
3. A cake stand with cupcakes towering up into three hoops, graduating in size...

Now you're making ME want to make some these hoopty-hoops! ;)

SO many great ideas--some I've had (tree and swing) but some I'd never have thought of without y'all. You people are going to keep me busy into next year!

What a cool Christmas Village idea... could take shape over the years...

My first thought was: Kids with squirt guns, one kid per circle, hiding behind various pieces of furniture... But downright Inception-like in their positions relative to each other.

I'm thinking water too - how about a kid throwing a penny into a fountain, or a child sailing a boat with a remote control or a child and parent skipping rocks? Love your work! Can't wait to see what you do next!

Gorgeously quirky. I love it. Cherrie

It's fab, I love it!
How about someone throwing something out a window, and someone in the next hoop ready to catch it?

I want to live in what you create!

A child launching a home-spun bottle rocket would be cute, or chasing butterflies with a butterfly net?

you could host a collaborative and then everyone's houses in the village would be their own. ... :) i'd make one! how much fun to participate in an interwebs connect-a-dot and learn how to make something new!

oh! and what about a fish bowl? for water stuffs. and what about interactive pieces? like... pockets on them?

jeez...these other ideas make mine seem so mundane, but how about a kid in one hoop holding a bunch of helium balloons, which would be the second hoop?

Love it! First thing came to mind was a golfer making a hole in one! My husb. wd love that! Your work inspires me; I'm thinking of trying to do a little picture w/ my two girls, though my artistic ability is nothing compared to yours, it would be fun to see what we could come up working on it together.

Hi Melissa! Those spring hoops are just adorable, great job, really!
Here one suggestion, on the top hoop a little boy/gril looking down into a pond, on the lower one, showing what are inside the pond, like underwater view :)

a truck or car with a trailer/camper...something in tow.

A sled and a sled puller.

A large gazebo or town square and then the surrounding ones would have a short amount of sidewalk leading from the square.

Hey Melissa, have just found your blog and I loooove your hop embroideries, so quirky and cute.
Everyone has left such wonderful ideas, but I sadly can't think of any I am so enthralled with your work.

Shall be back for another visit, enjoy your weekend,

Claire :)

How lovely! I can't wait for your village to come alive ;).

Love it, and the idea of a little hoop village!

There are already so many great suggestions... I know it's not spring like but maybe a family portrait in a family tree style...does that make any sense? All the little individual portraits connected in some sort of way...

i love the idea of a tree just starting to bud maybe with a little hibernating critter under it. maybe a crocus with a tad of snow left or something. i love your woodland critters and somehow one all curled up underground in a burrow just sounds kinda cozy.

Melissa Crowe said...

Stacey--I have ALWAYS wanted to do a "family tree" with each person in a different hoop! Great minds... ;-)

These are brilliant! You are a genius!

Hey, it just takes one hoop at a time...

Indeed, my dear!

I've linked to your blog on my blog's sidebar. I hope that's ok! Let me know if you'd like me to remove the link.
