Wedding Cool

Recreating the effortless cool of this pair of newlyweds--in felt--wasn't easy. The original photo was very dark and moody and Rat-Pack-ish, and my version is, well, brighter. Like a Rat-Pack quilt?
But I sure had fun--choosing that little scrap of fabric for the painting in the frame, embroidering the groom's face in a style that makes him look like the graphic-novel version of Frank Sinatra, and don't even get me started on the purple shoes. In the end, I think it's a successful portrait, if only because everybody loves a red sofa. Right? :-)

Your embroidery work on this piece and your other wedding piece is such fantastic! And I really love how you think outside of the box with felt. Makes me want to get it out right now and play. Thanks for sharing!

Lovely! This one got me thinking...wouldn't it be cool if you did a portrait in various shades of gray to emulate a black and white photo? Although, my word verification down there says "sheesh" so maybe not ;)

Danielle--I think that would be an awesome challenge, "sheesh" or no "sheesh"!

Felt is hard to work with, but you really nailed it! I'm glad you like to have a different approach towards your work. You could see the amount of work you put into your pieces. Keep 'em coming!
