Living Color(ization)

I recently had my first opportunity to "colorize" a black-and-white image, whilst creating an anniversary portrait for a gorgeous, long-married couple. This:
arose from this:
All those blue lines were made by Brooke (the couple's granddaughter) and correspond to a list of colors she provided. The process was ridiculously fun, and I ended up feeling (vanity alert) like I was working a bit of magic. I hope the recipients feel that way, too!

Thank you, Brooke! It should be in your hands tomorrow or Tuesday, I'd assume. Can't wait to hear what you think when you see it in person!

completely magical! and I know exactly how you feel! i followed your advice and tried my hand at it for that wedding gift. didn't know how else to share it with you, and was trying to figure out how but the recipient posted a pic online here: http://instagr.am/p/NKP62/
thank you so much melissa for all your inspiration. i certainly would not have attempted such an endeavor if not for your blog!
