And cold or no cold, we're Halloweening...

...cupcake style. (These are the basic chocolate cupcakes with buttercream frosting from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. Delish.)
In other Halloween news, this week I'm charged with transforming two twelve-year-old girls into these guys:
Wish me luck!

Depapering/Repurposing

I've had a cold for 2 1/2 weeks, folks. BLARGH.

This means crafting has ground to a halt, grading is limping along, and only in moments of sudden and uncharacteristic energy do I manage to work on my new, beloved project, this wreck of a dollhouse I found by the side of the road. Here you can see that my current stage is "depapering," which takes more muscle than I can muster, really. But when I kid myself into giving it a go, I use my old Whole Foods employee discount card; it's no longer serving as it once did (since my beloved Mark is now a stay-at-home dad again), but it makes a pretty good scraper!

Road Side Find

I've been traveling the state for the past couple of weeks, Portland to Farmington, Farmington to Portland, Portland to Presque Isle, and home again. At trails end, one street over from my own house, I found this one, its "FREE" sign beckoning my dollhouse-loving blood.
It's kind of a wreck--full of spiders and a bit smelly. But frankly, that just makes me love it more. I'll give it a good wash this afternoon and then head to the hardware store for a can of primer. Oh, the fun I'm going to have.
